Laser Doppler Flowmetry
Laser Doppler Flowmetry is a technique by which the blood flow in human tissue can be measured. Light of a highly coherent laser (780 nm) applied to the tissue is transmitted and scattered in the sampling volume. The Doppler shift is related to the number of moving blood cells and their velocity. It can be detected by analyzing the returning light collected by a fiber close to the laser source.
