Spectroscopy (Cs D1 & D2)
Cesium has a comparatively well-studied energy level structure and is therefore particularly relevant for cesium spectroscopy and high-resolution laser spectroscopy. Of particular importance are the Cs D1 line at 894.6 nm (in vacuum) and the Cs D2 line at approximately 852.4 nm (in vacuum). They connect the ground state with the two fine-structure levels of the first excited state. Their pronounced hyperfine structure makes both lines important references in high-resolution laser spectroscopy.
Cesium vapor cells are used, for example, for laser frequency stabilization and for investigating atomic transitions. In addition, cesium plays a central role in atomic clocks, quantum optics, magnetometry, and experiments with cooled and trapped atoms. For these applications, the laser wavelength must be precisely tuned to the desired transition and maintained with long-term stability.
Our single frequency laser diodes for cesium spectroscopy provide the narrow linewidth and spectral stability required for the selective excitation of Cs transitions. Use our product finder to find the right laser diode for your cesium spectroscopy application.
